The Chicago Country Music Festival

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Country music festivals can be found all over this great country of ours. Yes, even outside of the South and of course Nashville. For example, Chicago, IL.

The Chicago Country Music Festival moves to the Soldier Field Parkland and will kick off a weekend full of music and activities beginning Saturday, October 11 through Sunday, October 12, 2008.

"This year the Chicago Country Music Festival has its own weekend and a new location at Soldier Field. As a fan of country, I feel that Chicago has one of the best country music gatherings outside of Nashville," said Mayor Richard M. Daley.

The Chicago Country Music Festival, once a part of the Taste of Chicago, celebrates its 18th year with concerts and this year becomes its own festival. There are three performance stages, a Kids’ Corral tent and a dance tent.

The list of performers include Gretchen Wilson and Taylor Swift this year, and best of all , admission is free.

If you live or can easily travel to Chicago area, this certainly sounds like an event to check out.
